Summer Fun Activities – Atlanta Area

We are on the hunt for some great summer activies to do with and without the kids this summer.  Here are some of the great options that are out there for the Atlanta Area.. If you would liek us to research your area please send us an email at info@extremedivas.us.

Summer Fun Activies (Free or Discounted)….

1. Atlanta Contemporary Art Center

The Contemporary exhibits consequential contemporary works by local, regional, national, and international artists and is free every Thursday from 11 am until 8 pm. Thursday evenings often feature programming such as lectures, gallery tours, film screenings, and much more. The Center exhibits consequential contemporary works by local, regional, national, and international artists. General admission: $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, free for children under 12, and free on Thursdays.

2. Workshops at Home Depot for the Kids

The first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers free workshops, creating cool games and great home ware gifts. In addition to developing skills, kids will learn tool safety.

3. Center for Puppetry Arts Museum & Special Exhibits

General admission: $8.25 adults, and children; senior and student discounts available

Museum Hours
•Tues-Fri: 9am-3pm
•Saturday: 9am-5pm
•Sunday: 11am-5pm
Extended hours during evening events

FREE Museum Thursdays!
Visit our Museum Exhibits free of charge every Thursday from 1-3pm

Fulton County FREE Museum Saturdays
Free admission to our Museum Exhibits for Fulton County residents, students, and government employees the first Saturday of every month!

4. Visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic site

“The Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site, administered by the National Park Service, includes King’s birth home, church and grave. The National Park Service’s Visitor Center, at 450 Auburn Ave. features exhibits about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Civil Rights movement. The park is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm; from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day open until 6:00 pm; closed Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1. The surrounding almost 70-acre Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site and Preservation Districtincludes the Sweet Auburn Historic District. ”  http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/atlanta/kin.htm

5. Tour the Governor’s mansion

According to http://mansion.georgia.gov/tours: Public tours are conducted throughout the year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.  It is recommended that you arrive before 11:00 to allow enough time to complete the tour before the Mansion closes at 11:30 a.m.
